There are twelve recipes for you to discover and make in the game, all providing different buffs and benefits when consumed. You can also create and give these meals to Mishy, a cat NPC that will give you unique rewards for feeding them. Recipes are a crucial aspect of Lacrimosa of Dana, and they can be hard to come by if you don’t know where to look.
Recipes Overview

Recipes are obtained by searching treasure chests across the island’s many regions and are sometimes gifted to you by party members or the castaways you recruit to the Castaway Village. These recipes require specific ingredients to make and will reward you with excellent buffs when consumed, such as increasing your Strength and Defense, restoring 2,100 HP, and much more.
As mentioned above, you can also give these recipes to Mishy, who will provide you with unique and valuable rewards in return. This includes the Aeolus Rune Adventure Gear you obtain when feeding them six different meals and the Earth Orb Accessory you get when giving him twelve recipes. You can find everything Mishy offers and how to receive them with our guide that covers Mishy and Shoebill’s rewards here!
Aside from medicines and other formulas you can craft or scavenge, recipes are immensely beneficial and can be the difference between life and death and will even offer you massive bonuses to aid you in combat, allowing you to deal more damage or eliminate all ailments.
Every Recipe

Completing Bulletin Board Quests, exploring the Isle of Seiren, and occasionally receiving them as gifts from your party members will be how you obtain recipes in Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana. As already covered, all twelve recipes are crucial for completing Mishy’s quest and will also help you get the Achievement/Trophy for gathering all the unique items in the game. This will also help you build your reputation up to receive the game’s secret ending, so we recommend jumping on these recipes as soon as possible.

Fresh Vegetable Juice

While the longest a recipe effect can last is five minutes, you may find yourself in situations where you need to consume another meal for its healing properties or unique effect but can’t due to another one being active. Usually, you would either have to wait it out or rest to clear the meal’s effect, but there is one more method you can utilize to purge yourself of the food buffs.
After recruiting Miralda to Castaway Island in Chapter 3, she will eventually offer you the opportunity to turn gathered vegetables into Fresh Vegetable Juice, allowing you to consume it to erase your currently activated recipe effects. Though this isn’t the most significant benefit in the world, it can help you in a pinch, especially if you need a lot of health restored and have already consumed a meal.
Lastly, while it’s technically counted as a recipe since you need vegetables to make it, Fresh Vegetable Juice is not required for Mishy’s questline as he only accepts the abovementioned twelve meals. However, we still recommend seeking out Miralda and learning how to make Fresh Vegetable Juice, as it will give you a slight nudge to your reputation, getting you closer to the 150 needed for the secret ending.
